Year 2 Swim Gala v. St. George's

Today Ryan had the opportunity to go to swim in gala (meet) against St. George's in Windsor.  Just fewer than half of his class were chosen to go.  It was a great time - all relays (less pressure) and very evenly matched schools.  He was VERY nervous this morning, but seemed to have LOTS of fun!

Lane's Baptism

Lane was baptized this weekend among her friends and family at Jubilee Christian Church.  We are so proud of her and excited to see her growing in her faith in Jesus.

A few months ago, she said that she would like to be baptized.  At that time, we told her that she could choose whether she'd like to do that here at our church in Maidenhead, or wait until the summer when we could do it with our extended family in California.  She chose to go ahead and go for it here.  While we were (of course) missing friends and family being present, it was really neat to see her make this decision for herself, and choose to follow when she felt God prompting her to do something!

It was a very special day.  After she was dunked, several people at the church shared bible verses and encouragement with her.  I wrote a song for all of those being baptized and shared it during the service.  Then we all headed over for a picnic across the street from the church - and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon.

Lane, one other girl and four adults were baptized on Sunday.

Daddy dunked her with our pastor, Stuart.

Several people commented on the JOY they see in Lane!

Three of her friends from school came to see her baptism.

If you'd like to see the whole baptism, it is here.

If you'd like to hear the song I wrote and sang, it is here.

And here's Lane's own summary of the day...

The Bank Holiday Weekend

Today was a bank holiday (don't ask me why) and we have thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend!

First of all, Daddy came home on Friday.  We were ALL very happy to see him after almost two weeks away in the States.

Second, the weather was BEAUTIFUL!  Almost seventy degrees and SUNSHINE for a good part of the weekend.

We took the kids on our first real family bike ride (7+ miles) as we headed out to Windsor Garden Centre for tea!  They both did GREAT and we saw some interesting things along the way...

Today, after a lazy morning, we met up with our life group from church for lunch and a long walk on the best day of the weekend.  Woo-hoo!  The kids came home good and filthy and tired!

And now... on to a SHORT WEEK!!!

Interesting busts of the Queen and Prince Philip

The Pineapple pub and a walk along the Jubilee River

The "A" Team

No... I'm not talking about B.A. Baracus and Face... I'm talking about Year 4 Girls' Rounders.  Rounders is the girls' sport this term at St. Piran's and Lane was SO EXCITED to make the "A" team!  They had a great first game on Friday, taking the win over Bishopsgate with a score of 13 to 6 1/2.  (Seriously... don't ask me why they have a game where you can score 1/2 a point!)
